一则生命的对话

dreamed I had an interview with God.　

　我梦见自己会见了上帝

“So you would like to interview me?” God asked

“这么说，你想采访我？”上帝问

“If you had the time”, I said… God Smiled

“如果你有时间，”我说…上帝笑了　

“My time is eternity, …what questions do you have in your mind for me?”　　　　　　　　　　　

“我的时间是永恒，你想问我什么？”

“What surprises you most about humankind?”…God answered,　

“人类的什么最令你惊异？”上帝回答：

“That they get bored with childhood, they rush to grow up and then long to be children again.”

  他们厌倦童年，急切地要长大，长大了以后却又渴望回到从前。

“That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money to restore their health.”

  他为了金钱不惜健康，然后，又为了恢复健康而失去他们的钱财。

“That by thinking anxiously about the future, that they forget the present, such that they live neither in the present or the future.”

他们总是思虑未来而忘记了现在，以致于他们既没有活在现在又不是活在将来。

“That they live as if they will never die and die as if they had never lived.”

他们活着，好像自己永远不会死；死的时候， 却又像是从未活过。

God’s hand took mine and we were silent for a while.

上帝的手握住我的手，我们沉默片刻……
